Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the 75-year-old mother of renowned Hausa musician Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, has been released by her kidnappers.
The news of her freedom was announced by her son, Rarara, on his verified Instagram handle on Wednesday morning.
Although details of the release remain scarce, a source close to the family revealed that the kidnappers had initially demanded a staggering N1 billion ransom. However, after negotiations, the amount was reduced to N900 million.
It is unclear whether any ransom was paid to secure Hajiya’s release.
The kidnapping occurred in late June in Kastina state, with the suspected terrorists contacting the family and demanding a ransom.
It should be recalled that the Katsina State Police Command had earlier announced the arrest of two suspects linked to the abduction.
The police statement, issued by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed that the suspects were being interrogated by the authorities.
