The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled former winger, Finidi George, as the new manager of the Super Eagles.
Finidi George succeeds Jose Peseiro and has been tasked with leading the team to secure the 2026 World Cup ticket, among other objectives.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Lagos, Nigeria, was attended by prominent figures in Nigerian football, including the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owen Enoh, and NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau.
In his remarks, Senator John Owen Enoh expressed confidence in Finidi George’s ability to lead the Super Eagles to success, citing his illustrious career as both a player and a coach.
He reiterated the importance of securing the 2026 World Cup ticket and urged Finidi to rally the team towards achieving this goal.
Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the NFF, congratulated Finidi George on his appointment and reiterated the federation’s commitment to providing the necessary support for the team’s success.
He said Finidi’s wealth of experience in football, both domestically and internationally, was a key factor in his selection.
Finidi George, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Super Eagles and pledged to give his best in fulfilling the expectations placed upon him.
He acknowledged the challenges ahead but affirmed his confidence in the team’s potential to excel on the global stage.
