BREAKING: Nigerian Army kills IPOB/ESN gunmen, recover bomb, AK 47s [PHOTOS]

The Nigerian Army said it has eliminated two insurgents of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the last two weeks.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Army said the exploit was recorded at Izombe community in Aguta Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.

This was disclosed on Thursday in a press briefing by the Directorate of Defence Media Operations on Armed Forces of Nigeria’s military operations held at the Defence Headquarters’ New Conference Room in Abuja.

The briefing, coordinated by Major-General Musa Danmadami, the Director, Defence Media Operations, covered operational activities of the Armed Forces and other security agencies conducted across the country between November 17 and December 1.

Security forces said they cleared IPOB’s camps in forests, cities and towns of Imo, Anambra, Enugu and Abia states.

“Notably, on 18 November 22 following an intelligent report on the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network at Oji River town in Oji River LGA of Enugu State, troops then carried out a blocking operation.

“After the encounter with the criminal who fled, troops recovered 1 AK 47 rifle, 1 pistol, 3 AK 47 magazine loaded with 47 rounds of 7.62 mm special, 9 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and 3 vehicles, while 2 kidnapped victims were rescued.

“Also, on 20 November 2022 troops in conjunction with other security agencies on patrol at Izombe community in Aguta Local Government Area of Imo State came in contact with Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminals.

“Troops neutralized two criminals while others fled.

“Troops exploited the area and recovered 3 AK47 rifles, 1 x 36 hand grenade, 3 motorcycles, 12 mobile phones and the sum of N241, 000.

“All recovered items were handed over to the appropriate authority for further action,” Major-General Danmadami said.
