Terrorism: Shehu Sani reacts to FG’s pact with UN

Shehu Sani, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central, has commended the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for its decision to sign an MOU with the United Nations on counter-terrorism.

Sani in a tweet on Saturday, September 2, described the move as a significant step in Nigeria’s anti-terrorism war.

In Sani’s view, the pact will help Nigeria in the areas of support, expertise, and logistics as long as it maintains its stand on the issue.

He said:

“The signing of the MOU between Nigeria and the UN on counter-terrorism is a significant step in the country’s war against terrorism.

This is an important step taken that will avail Nigeria of the support, expertise, and logistics needed in tackling our security challenges.”

The federal government and the UN had signed a MOU on counter-terrorism.

This is in furtherance of the federal government’s effort with the international community to combat terrorism.

A statement by the Head, Strategic Communications, office of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Zakari Usman said the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and United Nations office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) signed the agreement to further strengthen counter-terrorism efforts in Nigeria.

Both parties on the occasion in Abuja said that the documents were in furtherance of the joint efforts to combat the global menace of terrorism, which remained one of the most complex challenges to the peace, security, and stability of nations around the world.
