Social Media giant, Meta, has announced that content creators from Nigeria and Ghana can now monetize their content on Facebook, starting from Monday, July 1, 2024.
This move comes as the company rolls out two new monetization features: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels.
According to a statement released by Meta on Monday, these features will enable creators to earn money for creating original videos and building a community on the platform. The company stated that eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana will be able to earn money from their video and reel content, with support in over 30 languages globally.
However, to use these monetization features, creators must meet certain requirements. They must be at least 18 years old and pass and remain compliant with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies. Additionally, for in-stream ads, creators must have a minimum of 5,000 followers.
Recall that in March, Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, announced that the company would introduce the feature in June after meeting with President Tinubu at the presidential villa.
