The Federal Government on Tuesday officially proscribed the activities of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shiites.
The announcement was made by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu at a news conference in Abuja.
He declared that anyone found associating with them will be declared, and treated, as an enemy of the state.
Recall that a federal high court in Abuja had on Friday, declared the group led by Ibrahim El Zakzaky as a terrorist organization.
He also ordered the arrest of the members and their leaders nationwide. Speaking at the monthly conference with senior police officers in Abuja on Tuesday, the IG stated that “all forms of procession or protest by IMN is now illegal and thus banned.”
