Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the minister of communications and digital economy, has unveiled a partnership with IHS Towers that is set to transform the technological landscape of Nigeria.
The partnership introduces the establishment of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Learning Community, a visionary initiative that will revolutionize the country’s approach to technical education and talent development.
In a message on social media this morning, the minister said the ministry would train three million technical talents over the next four years.
The minister said he would use a 1-10-100-model. This means training 1% of the three million in three months, then 10% over a defined period, then 100%.
Key Highlights:
- Scope: The 3MTT Learning Community will reach all 36 states and Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
- Funding: IHS Towers, a major player in the telecommunications industry, is contributing a staggering N1 billion to fuel this innovative initiative.
- Dedicated Managers: As part of the collaboration, IHS Towers will also commit to covering the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers, each overseeing a specific location, for the next three years.
- Future Prospects: Dr. ‘Tijani’s statement suggests that this partnership is the beginning of an exciting journey. It marks the inception of a series of collaborations aimed at achieving the goals of the 3MTT program and advancing the Knowledge pillar of their Strategic Blueprint.
The partnership is expected to have a far-reaching impact on technical education and knowledge acquisition in Nigeria, signifying a bold step towards a brighter, more digitally empowered future for the nation.
