The Nigerian Police have summoned the 2019 and 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore for questioning.

Sowore, a human rights activist, announced the development on his social media handle on Facebook.

According to the police invitation, Sowore is required to report for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 am.

The invitation cites an investigation into alleged offences, including resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful order, and cyberstalking.

Sowore’s summon comes after he posted a video on social media exposing alleged extortion by police officers at a checkpoint on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road in Lagos. The video, which has gone viral, shows Sowore confronting the police officers and criticizing them for creating unnecessary traffic on the airport road.
