BREAKING: Nigerian Soldiers kill 21 terrorists in Katsina [PHOTOS]

In a major breakthrough against terrorism in the North West, troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fasin Yaki, launched a successful assault on terrorist hideouts in Ruwan Godiya, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, saw troops engage the insurgents in a fierce gun battle. According to military sources, the terrorists, overwhelmed by the firepower of the troops, abandoned their enclave and attempted to flee the area. In the course of the pursuit, 21 terrorists were killed—some gunned down in combat and others drowned while trying to escape through a nearby river.

A senior military officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the operation as “swift, precise, and highly effective.” He added that there were no casualties among the troops.

Following the clearance of the area, troops discovered a cache of weapons left behind by the fleeing terrorists. Items recovered include several rifles, handguns, magazines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), communication gadgets, mobile phones, and a number of motorcycles believed to be used for hit-and-run attacks.

The military assured that operations would continue in the region to root out remnants of terrorist cells and restore peace to affected communities.

Residents of nearby villages have expressed relief over the operation and called for sustained presence of security forces to prevent the terrorists from regrouping.
