The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been adjourned till January 19, 2022.
The adjournment came shortly after Kanu’s lawyers staged a walk-out over the refusal of operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow some other members of the IPOB leader’s legal team gain access into the courtroom at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The counsels to Kanu who furiously left the courtroom include Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
Kanu himself had lamented the refusal of Bruce Fein, his lawyer from the diaspora, to enter the courtroom. He claimed Fein had been handling a case for him in the USA.
When asked by the judge, Justice Binta Nyako, if he was ready to conduct proceedings himself in the absence of his lawyers, Kanu said “no”.
Justice Nyako expressed displeasure over the conduct of Kanu’s lawyers and subsequently adjourned the case till January 19 and 20, 2022, for trial.
What do i know, but this is bad.
