The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has commenced oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State.
The production began on May 6th, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels of oil, marking a historic milestone in the partnership between NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd.), NNPC Ltd.’s flagship upstream subsidiary, and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd. (NOSL), a subsidiary of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd. (SEEPCO).
The commencement of oil production signifies a significant step forward in Nigeria’s efforts to bolster its oil production capacity.
The production is expected to be gradually scaled up to 40,000 barrels per day by May 27th, 2024, showcasing the potential for increased oil output in the region.
