BREAKING: Obasanjo reacts to farm attack, reveals next move

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday vowed that those responsible for the destruction of his farmland in Benue State will be apprehended and prosecuted.

It would be recalled that hoodlums on Saturday razed Obasanjo’s mango farm in Howe community, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the 140 hectares farm was burnt following possible disagreements with the locals over compensation for the land which was originally owned by the state government.

The Gwer East Local Government Chairman, Emmanuel Ortserga, who confirmed the incident at the weekend said the fire was a deliberate act by hoodlums.

Reacting today in a press release by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo said: “the local and state governments, including the security agencies in the state, have taken up the issue, with a view to fishing out the perpetrators and prosecution”.

The former President thanked those who had called him to show concern over the incident.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has ordered full-scale investigation in the fire incident.

Ortom insisted that no act of sabotage would be tolerated by the government, adding that his administration had a deliberate policy to encourage local and foreign investors, especially in the agricultural sector.

  1. I pity the people who take law in to their hands knowing fully that it does not pay. Why go for destruction as the law can help regain what was taken illegally? While I sympathise with the ex- president and the good people in that society that usually benefit from the fruits in the farm.

    1. I sympathise with our ex President .
Although Nigeria doesn’t only need prayer but proper leaders who know what they’re doing. Those who won’t make the country their dumping ground for heaven sake. Those who don’t dirty their hands and turn out not to help in anyway but choose to remain numb in their conscience…till then even our prayer may yet seem underrated

  2. Enemies of progress of Benue state at all levels must face due wrath of God. Please, baba, don’t be discouraged to invest in Benue State, especially in agricultural sector.hard luck.
