The Screening appeals committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has upheld the disqualification of Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki from the party’s upcoming gubernatorial primaries.
Obaseki’s second term bid hit a stumbling block on Friday after a screening panel disqualified him from contesting due to discrepancies in his HSC and NYSC certificates.
The appeals committee presented its report to the National Working Committee on Saturday, POLITICS NIGERIA gathered. The committee led by Dr Abubakar Fari cited discrepancies in the dates on Obaseki’s University of Ibadan certificate.
While presenting the committee’s report, Fari said, “It is inconceivable that the same University will award two certificates with separate dates for the same graduate.
“We also find it difficult to vouch for the authenticity of his NYSC certificate, there is no indication as to where he served.
“We find that he should be disqualified,” he said.
