The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Iroju Ogundeji, has been impeached.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Ogundeji was removed during Tuesday plenary by the members of the Assembly for alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office. The lawmakers have immediately elected Mr Samuel Aderoboye from Odigbo Constituency 2 as the new Deputy Speaker.
This removal of Ogundeji follows the attempt by some lawmakers to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi. Ogundeji was among the nine lawmakers who did not sign the impeachment notice against the embattled deputy governor.
He was suspended indefinitely by the House for unruly behavior and later reinstated by a Federal High Court in Akure, the state capital.
