The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said it is his turn to be the Senate President of Nigeria.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, the former governor of Abia State imitated the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, by saying “it is my turn”.
The 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated in June.
Kalu said: “First name will be Team Nigeria, middle name will be Team Nigeria, and last name will be Team Nigeria.
“Remember, I’m the only governor who have never changed my phone since I became governor 24 years ago. It’s the same SIM card I have is what I am having, I never change it. I will be willing to still maintain that telephone number and to answer to all my calls.
“I am not going to switch off my phones because I am Senate President. But I’m hoping that Nigeria people will pray for me to be Senate President because it is my turn.”
This newspaper recalls that Tinubu, during his presidential campaign, introduced a coinage ‘Emilokan’, which loosely translates to ‘It’s my turn’.
With the positive affirmation of his presidential ambition from the onset, he was finally declared president-elect on March 1 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu in Abuja.
