The Nigerian government says it has recorded twelve new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), bring the total number of cases to 151.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle.
According to the NCDC, nine cases were recorded in Osun, while two cases were confirmed in Edo and one in Ekiti State
The health agency added that as at 12:30 pm on 1st April, there are 151 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. It said nine persons have been discharged, while two deaths have been recorded.
It wrote: ” Twelve new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Osun, 2 in Edo and 1 in Ekiti State. As at 12:30 pm 1st April there are 151 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.”
The center has allayed the fears of Nigeria that the virus that causes #COVID19 is not airborne.
It said based on studies, droplets that spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes, land on nearby surfaces.
The NCDC, however, urged people to always maintain a social distance of 2 metres and a person who is ill should wear a face mask to avoid infecting others
