The Governor of Osun state, Gboyega Oyetola is set to contest the results of the Osun Gubernatorial Elections which he lost last month to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.
This was revealed today by Osun APC state chairman, Gboyega Famoodun.
He dropped a hint of the party’s plan to approach tribunal over the outcome of the July 16 governorship poll while speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Thursday.
“We are going to the tribunal. Our lawyers had informed us that we have good reasons to challenge the results of the election at the tribunal.”
Reacting to the development, PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle condemned the decision to approach the tribunal.
The statement read, “We are yet to be served with any election petition. Neither the party nor the Governor-elect is worried by the alleged petition as the election that produced the winner was adjudged to be of global democratic compliance.”
“This just concluded election passes test of best practices in electoral processes with the effective application of the electoral act which shut down all rigging plots and schemings of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
“PDP is not afraid of any election petition as the Legal Team of the PDP are always ready to defend whatever petition the APC is bringing, reiterating that the petition would be dead on arrival anytime it comes.”

The lawyer told you that you have a strong case. As the party in control in the state of Osun with a sitting governor that oversees the elections and with the facts of all that transpired at the exercise. WE HOPE THAT WITH THE LACKADAISICAL SPIRIT EXPRESSED BY THE FAITH OF THE LAWYER INSTEAD OF THE FIRM BELIEVE OF THE COMPLAINANT. THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS ITS HAS A CASE TO PROSECUTE TO WIN AT THE COURT. IF THE PDP IS NOT AFRAID. THEN SHUT THE TRAP AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEIGHTENED BLOOD PRESSURE WITH WASTEFUL ANXIETY AND ALLOW THE LEGAL EXERCISE TAKES ITS COURSE.
May I remind the PDP also, that governorship elections in the state of Osun have always been resolved by the courts.
