The Port-Harcourt International Airport has been hit by a total electrical blackout after a bushfire completely consumed electrical facilities.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday leading to several flight delays.
According to the head of corporate communications at the airport, Onyi John, efforts are being made to restore power as soon as possible.
This is the second time in weeks that this incident is occurring. Mr. Onyi pleaded with customers to exercise patience as everything will be sorted out very soon. In his words;
“The bush fire damaged over 14 high tension poles supplying electricity to the airport’s 33kv feeder. However, PHED technical crew have been mobilized to the site, with a view to erecting the poles and restoring power supply to the airport.”
