Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will meet with FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, today following the crisis rocking Rivers State.
The PDP Governors Forum disclosed this in a statement by its director-general, Cyril Maduabum, on Wednesday.
Maduabum noted that decision to visit Wike was reached at the forum’s meeting on Tuesday.
Maduabum explained that the visit is for reconciliation and mediation purposes.
“The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to converge at his residence, No 1 Miriam Aloma Muktar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit,” the statement read.
The visit is slated to hold in the FCT Minister’s office, by 11am.
Politics Nigeria reports that 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly had moved to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday.
This resulted in turbulence in Rivers state as the governor’s loyalists stormed the assembly complex in protest against the plot.
Both Wike and Fubara had met with President Bola Tinubu on the matter on Tuesday.
Governor Mohammed commended President Tinubu for his intervention in the political crisis.
