The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has postponed its Edo Gubernatorial Primaries scheduled for Saturday, June 20th to June 23rd, 2020.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the exercise was shifted in order to allow Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who just resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take part in the election.
It will be recalled that Obaseki left the APC after he was disqualified last week by the party’s screening committee over discrepancies in his HSC and NYSC certificates.
Obaseki alongside his deputy, Philip Shuaibu resigned from the party. On Wednesday night, Obaseki reportedly met with the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, Soko state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and other top leaders of the party in Abuja.
It is believed that the meeting is to negotiate and facilitate Obaseki’s entrance to the Opposition party.
