The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbadibo Local Government of Benue state has suspended the former chairman of the council, David Abah Umoro, from the party.
The decision was communicated through a statement by the Chairman of PDP, Ogbadibo Local Government, and the head of the Disciplinary Committee.
According to the letter, Umoro’s suspension is attributed to Anti-Party activities and various other offences.
The Disciplinary Committee, representing Orokam Ward 1 PDP, stated that the decision came after a review of the 2023 General Elections, mainly focusing on Umoro’s role on the day of the National Assembly and Presidential Elections in 2023.
Part of the letter read: “Orokam Ward 1 PDP suspends Hon. David Abah Umoro for Anti-Party activities in his Council Ward.
This development came up after the review of the 2023 General Elections, his role on the day of National Assembly & Presidential Elections 2023.
“David Abah Umoro ceased the Local Government Party agent tags on 25 February 2023 and equally refused to release the money meant for party agents in his Council Ward, this development has aided other political parties like APC and Labour Party to win some polling units.
“Secondly, since his election as Executive Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Council, he has never for once conveyed a party meeting or pay the annual subscription to the party as provided under section 8 sub-section 9 of the PDP Constitution.
“Thirdly, it is on record that the said David Abah Umoro was invited thrice and failed to comply to the directives of the party, even when he promised to be present in a meeting held on the 2nd February, 2024.
After several invitations, he deliberately refused to honour the invitation of the Ward Disciplinary Committee.
“In view of the above and many other silence offences which has affected our great party, PDP. The Disciplinary Committee of the Ward expressed their dissatisfaction on the general conduct of Ex-Council Chairman.
“All Excos, including the stakeholders of the ward, passed a vote of no confidence on him (David Abah Umoro), and he remains suspended from the party indefinitely.”
