The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Ajaero, has been summoned by the police to their headquarters in Abuja for questioning over alleged treason, terrorism financing, and other serious crimes.
According to a statement signed by ACP Adamu S. Muazu, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ajaero is required to report to the IRT Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 am.
The police warned that failure to comply would result in a warrant of arrest being issued against him.
This development comes after the NLC raised an alarm about a raid on its headquarters in Abuja on August 8.
The union claimed that heavily armed security personnel stormed the Labour House, breaking in and ransacking the bookshop, and carting away hundreds of books and publications.
The operatives allegedly claimed they were searching for seditious materials used for the #EndBadGoveranance Protests.
However, the police authorities denied invading the NLC secretariat, stating that they only traced a suspected criminal to the building, which coincidentally houses the organization’s office.
