A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Daniel Bwala has resigned his member ship of the ruling party over the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as a running mate to the party’s 2023 Presidential flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The development has create rancour within the ruling party as some members have openly voice their disagreement with the ‘Muslim-Muslim’ Ticket.
Bwala in a statement via Twitter on Sunday night announced his resignation from the party adding that ‘efforts’ should be channelled at uniting the country.
He tweeted; “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on principles and conviction that I hold so dear. At this time of our national existence, our efforts and energy should gravitate towards uniting our people.”
Meanwhile some have praised Tinubu’s choice of Shettima as his Vice. Festus Keyamo, a ranking member of the party and Minister, said described the move as a ‘wise one’ adding that Shettima was a ‘Good choice’.
Also, the Presidential Candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, hailed Tinubu over the move adding that if he wouldn’t mind giving his support to the Lagos politician to become the Nation’s next leader.
