The real cause of Voombastic Uncle P’s death cannot be ascertained as of the time of publishing this report.

The deceased was a former factional Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) National President. He became popular for his indigenous hit songs such as ‘Voom Kamma’, ‘Kpokom’, ’Ngozika’, ‘Figure 8 bu Akwa Nwa’ and ‘Kid Emperor’.

Highlife music, which the late performer specializes in, is a genre that started in present-day Ghana in the 19th century, during its history as a colony of the British Empire. It uses the melodic and main rhythmic structures of traditional Akan music and Kpanlogo Music of the Ga people, but is played with Western instruments. Highlife is characterised by jazzy horns and multiple guitars which lead the band. Recently it has acquired an uptempo, synth-driven sound.
