BREAKING: Presidency reveals new date for Buhari’s London trip

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, on Friday disclosed that his principal had to return to Abuja after an early completion of his task in Nairobi, Kenya.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Shehu stated that Buhari has not cancelled his London, United Kingdom (UK) trip, adding that the president will travel to London on Sunday 6th of March.

Daily Trust quotes Shehu as saying: “No, he hasn’t shelved his trip to London. The plan is still there. He finished his business in Kenya and made an early return. The trip to London is Sunday.”

Recall that earlier today, Buhari abruptly returned to Abuja after attending the United Nations (UN) Environmental Programme in Nairobi, Kenya.

This is contrary to the plan contained in an earlier press statement from the presidency, stating that the president would proceed to London for a medical check-up after the Kenya programme.

Buhari’s frequent medical trips have been widely criticised.

The president visited London several times for check-ups between May 2015, when he was first elected, and 2017 for an undisclosed ailment.

His health became a subject of debate in the 2019 election when the opposition claimed he was not physically fit to govern — but Buhari won a second term.
