President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Electoral Amendment Bill into Law, POLITICS NIGERIA has gathered.
Buhari signed the bill at approximately 12:19 PM. The President assented to the bill in a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Villa in Abuja.
Present at the ceremony include the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
This development is coming barely a week to the expiration of a window given to the the President to take a decision on the legislation, as required by the Nigerian Constitution.
This will bring an end to the various controversies and protests over the President’s ‘delay’ to sign the bill.
