President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim to serve as the Minister of Youth, pending her confirmation by the Senate.
The president also approved the nomination of Mr. Ayodele Olawande to serve as the Minister of State for Youth, pending his confirmation by the Senate.
Dr. Ibrahim, a young medical doctor, is the former president of the Progressive Young Women Forum.
She had previously served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals.
Olawande, a respected community development expert and youth leader within the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), has a track record of active participation in youth-related initiatives and previously served in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023.
President Tinubu, in announcing the nominations, charged the nominees with the responsibility of consistently embodying the dynamism, innovative zeal, and unwavering productivity characteristic of Nigeria’s young population as they discharge their duties.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president (media and publicity), issued the statement, highlighting the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and the critical role young leaders will play in shaping the nation’s future.
