The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, southwest Nigeria, Professor Jacob Adeniyi is dead.
This newspaper gathered on Saturday that Prof. Adeniyi died at his residence in Bodija area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was learnt that the professor of computer science exited this world after a brief illness.
He was said to have earlier received treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH) before he died in his residence.
Prof. Adeniyi is believed to have joined the institution in 2012.
According to Daily Post, Registrar of ACU, Dr. Jadesola Babatola, confirmed the death of Prof. Adeniyi. She described the late professor as an astute personality and distinguished scholar.
Her words, “Adeniyi, who is a professor of Computer Science, played a pivotal role in setting up the Department of Computer Science of the University.
“Before his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, where he had served for two tenures before he fell ill, he had served the University as the Head of Department of Computer Science and the Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences.”
