Massive protests have erupted in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, following the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken to the streets, blocking the Lafia-Jos Road by burning tires in front of the party’s state secretariat.
Reports say the protest has caused a traffic disruption, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes within Lafia.
Shops, business centres, and schools in the Lafia metropolis abruptly closed as the demonstration continued.
Meanwhile, security forces have been deployed to the scene to restore calm and prevent any escalation.
