The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday sent a fresh message to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, urging him to immediately submit the list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.
The call came as lawmakers reconvened in Port Harcourt for their first plenary after a six-month suspension triggered by the declaration of emergency rule in the state.
The sitting was held at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters along Aba Road.
During the session, the Assembly commended President Bola Tinubu for lifting emergency rule and restoring democratic governance in Rivers State. Members also pledged to uphold agreements reached with key stakeholders to safeguard peace and stability.
Governor Fubara, along with his deputy and lawmakers are expected to return to office following the presidential directive on Wednesday.
This is where the problem starts. They have resumed and the Governor needs the commissioner’s to work with him. Why can’t the assembly just wait for the Governor to prepare and submit the list? It’s the Governor that needs the commissioner’s to work with him and not the assembly. They should wait for the list and not be jumping the gun as if they have not learnt from the crisis.
They already have their candidates Wike had for long time before resumption submitted his choice to Fubara it is only God that can save River state from these house members and their ruler from Anuja
You have said it all sir this state Assembly are stupid, they are only calling for crisis
Exactly
Well spoken. These people are too desperate for power
They are the big problem of that state also wike is the one pushing them to do that.
Fubara has already given in to their whimps and calprices. So let him leak his wound. Imagine some vindictive elements thinking they can play smart by pretending to accept peace, yet playing game of throne. Just today you resume from suspension, without national anthem, all that you remember is Gov sending commrs nominees.
Smh!
Both parties should by now, suppose to have learnt from their past mistakes. ‘Injury to one is injury to all’
May almighty God protect the people of rivers state from the evils godfathering
If I am to speak concerning this matter,
As the executive Governor of the state, it is within his right to differ the appointment and submission of commissioner – nominees to the House of Assembly, to latter date; say between the next 3 – 6 months, while the permanent secretaries of each ministry take charge. So long as this step is within the confines of the constitution.
River State politics, who is the conductor?and who is the driver? Please the passengers are waiting. Kakistocrat !!!
I can’t blame this stupid assembly much it’s Fubara that’s not that’s much smart enough he should have be patient till second term in office before he fire Wike but now all hand are on desk he can’t rerun for election again
I pray for strength and ability to bear all this assembly.
Nominating Commissioners into the Executive Arm of Government is primarily a responsibility of the Governor and him alone should know when to Nominate within the specified Constitutional duration except of we are saying the Political Crisis is still ongoing, Legislative Business should not interfere with Executive Discharge as such the Assembly should not have this overbearing and overriding influence on the Governor because this time around I don’t see even the President supporting them.
it’s so disheartening that politicians In Nigeria prioritize their personal interest more than public interest. it’s Indeed a slap to the term call democracy.
Tha Mr government should just ignoring them.they are a trouble maker who don’t want betterment of River State. How can reasonable people resume work today nd thinking what next is to cost another trouble. The deal has been done it had been done.he can’t screening them twice. When the elephant and lion fights it’s the grass that suffers the most,
Fubara should just take things easy and pray to God that things work out for his favor.
