Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed the return of all 310 citizens who embarked on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel.
Amidst widespread concerns over the Israel-Hamas conflict, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his delight at the pilgrims’ successful airlifting and return.
He also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs for their impeccable execution of this mission.
The governor offered prayers for peace in Israel and the global community.
He wrote on his X page:
Good morning Lagos,
“I’m happy to announce that we have successfully airlifted and returned all three hundred and ten (310) citizens who went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel.
“I want to thank you all for your concern, and I must also express my joy to our Ministry of Home Affairs for a job well done.
“We pray for peace in Israel and indeed the world at large.”
Al Jazeera reports that Israel has launched a bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 700 Palestinians.
On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country’s military is going on the offence against Hamas with a force “like never before.”
