A combined team of police and military in Anambra State have neutralised three members of the so-called ‘Unknown Gunmen’ group during a gun duel.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the incident took place on Wednesday evening at Umunze town in Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
The criminals first opened fire on the security agents but were taken by surprise by the operatives’ superior firepower. The incident happened around 4:30 pm.
The neutralised lawbreakers were believed to be part of the criminal gangs terrorising and killing innocent people in the state.
Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu could not be reached for comments as his line was not reachable as of the time of publishing this report. But one of the senior police officers in the Command confirmed the incident to the press.
This shooting comes weeks after the gunmen killed three army officers and one civilian in the Nkwo Market area of the community.
