A Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has gone ahead to start the screening of the Special Assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, and other nominees for appointment as National Commissioners of the electoral body.
This newspaper learnt that the screening is set to commence at Senate Chambers. Onochie has faced stiff opposition due to the fact that she is a member of the ruling party and Partisan.
He nomination by President Buhari has generated serious controversy with several Nigerians including top officials, calling for her removal and rejection by the senate committee.
The nominees include Lauretta Onochie, a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Muhammad Sani Kallah (Katsina) and Saidu Babura Ahmad(Jigawa).
Others are Professor Sani Muhammad Adam (North-Central), Professor Kunle Cornelius Ajayi (Ekiti) and Dr. Baba Bila (Northeast).
