Senator Ezenwo Onyewuchi has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Onyewuchi represents Imo East in the red chamber.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read Onyewuchi’s defection letter on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday.
The letter partly reads: “This decision is due to the intractable division and crisis in the labour party that sponsored my election into the senate.
“We give our unflinching support to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and of course, support his administration aimed at achieving sustainable development for our country.”
The defection was witnessed by Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), who was present in the chamber.
Recall that Senator Onyewuchi left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022 to join LP.
