BREAKING: Several Boko Haram terrorists gunned down in Borno [PHOTOS]

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed three Boko Haram terrorists in Gamboru, Ngala Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

According to sources, the troops had collaborated with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who came in contact with some insurgents during patrol.

The troops eliminated three of the terrorists after a gun battle while one CJTF personnel was injured.

Security agents seized two rifles belonging to the terrorists.

Alongside the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), the two factions have killed more than 40,000 people in the past decade. More than two million people are still displaced from their homes due to ongoing violence.

Soldiers have been battling the armed rebellion for more than 12 years. Government troops are also battling heavily armed gangs in the northwest and separatist tensions in the southeast.

Nigeria received a boost after the US in April approved a nearly $1 billion weapons sale. Lawmakers in Washington had earlier put a hold on the deal over concerns about possible human rights abuses by the Nigerian government.
