Npower NEXIT: FG sends training details to Lagos beneficiaries

Lagos-based exited beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s npower scheme on Saturday started receiving text messages about details of their NEXIT training.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the Nigerian government said in February that it has mapped out an exit strategy for hundreds of thousands of graduates who took part in the npower scheme.

The strategy involves a training programme in specific areas after which the graduates will be given loans to start their own businesses, Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, said at the time.

About 300, 000 batches A and B beneficiaries have indicated interest to be part of the NEXIT initiative where they can be trained in various skills of their choice, after which they will be given loans by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for them to start their businesses.

The npower scheme, one of the Social Investment Programmes (SIP) of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, involves the temporary recruitment of unemployed graduates, mainly as teachers, for two years, during which they are paid a N30,000 stipend.
