It was a frustrating outing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they played a 0-0 draw with the Amavuli of Rwanda on Tuesday in a crucial African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Austin Eguavion boys could not replicate their stunning performance over Benin Republic 3-0 in last Saturday’s match.
The goalie of the Rwandan side frustrated the eagles with his brilliance on the field.
The opening minutes of the game was dominated by the Amavubi with support of their fans.
However, the Eagles took control of the match with striker, Ademola Lookman causing major problems in the defence area of the host.
Midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi put a pass to Lookman in the 20th minutes whose shot was saved by Ntwari Fiacre.
Three minutes later, the Atalanta winger put the ball inside the net but the centre referee disallowed the goal.
Beginning of the second half saw caretaker coach, Eguavoen making two changes to his squad.
Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze were replaced with Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon.
The Nigerian senior national team created a couple of chances in the second half but Ntwari made sure their efforts amounted to nothing.
This result means the Eagles have now picked four points in their opening two games in the qualifying round.
Nigeria will host the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their next game in the qualifiers next month.
