One day to the election, the Supreme Court on Friday affirmed David Jimkuta as the authentic candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Taraba South Senatorial District election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the apex court also dismissed the appeal filed by senatorial aspirant Danjuma Shiddi.
Jimkuta was one of the dozens of elected legislators who received their Certificates of Return on March 7 in Abuja.
He is Taraba State’s youngest Senator in the coming 10th National Assembly and also the first APC senator elect in Taraba South.
Recall that Jimkuta beat the sitting governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku (of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP) in the February 25 election.
The APC candidate won in all the local government areas that make up the senatorial district, including the Governor Ishaku’s hometown of Takum.
Jimkuta scored 85,415 votes while Ishaku garnered 45,708 votes.
