The Supreme Court has dismissed Peter Obi’s case against President Bola Tinubu’s election.
Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, had dragged Tinubu before the Supreme Court following the outcome of the tribunal on September 6.
The Supreme Court, however, threw out all issues raised by Obi against Tinubu’s election for lack of merit.
On two-thirds of votes in the FCT Justice Ibang Okoro held that the case lacks merit.
“Scoring of 25% of votes in the FCT is not a mandatory requirement for the declaration of a candidate as the winner of the presidential election,” the judge said.
The court also said that Obi failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Tinubu was indicted for criminal offenses during his stay in the United States.
Earlier, the Supreme Court also dismissed Atiku Abubakar (PDP) case against Tinubu for lacking merit.
The court also failed to admit fresh evidence of certificate forgery against Tinubu by Atiku.
The court unanimously upheld the election of Tinubu as Nigeria’s president.
