The Supreme Court has upheld Siminalayi Fubara’s election as the governor of Rivers State.
This is even as the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by Tonye Cole and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Fubara for lack of merit.
Cole is challenging Governor Fubara’s victory on the grounds that he did not resign as the accountant-general of Rivers State before the election.
The court held that the Cole did not prove the allegations of non compliance with the Electoral Act among others.
The Supreme Court held that the appeal was incompetent and then moved on to dismiss it.
