There is tension Jos, the Plateau State capital, following the teargassing of the 16 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who were sacked by the Court of Appeal.
It was gathered that the lawmakers had arrived at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos on Tuesday morning alongside their supporters preparatory to their resumption of plenary when the incident happened.
Politics Nigeria earlier reported that there was heavy police presence at the venue following the decision of the 16 sacked lawmakers to attend today’s plenary.
Upon their arrival, the policemen and other security operatives prevented the sacked lawmakers from going into the chambers of the House of Assembly but they group refused to leave.
The policemen were still trying to disperse the crowd as at the time of writing this report.
