Three people have been killed when some yet-to-be-identified gunmen launched an early morning attack on Yadagungume and Limi villages in Ningi Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State, northern Nigeria.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that one other person was injured in the incident which happened at about 12 am on Wednesday.
The gunmen, whose number cannot be ascertained, first attacked Yadagungume and started shooting sporadically, causing panic to the villagers who were already asleep before they attacked Limi village, all in Burra District of the LGA.
The slain victims have been buried this morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
Efforts by this news medium to get comments from the Bauchi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ahmed Wakil, was unsuccessful.
In a piece of related news, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi State have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and killing a five-year-old girl after collecting ransom from her parents.
The prime suspect, Kabiru Abdullahi, a resident of Narabi, in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, allegedly connived with one Alhaji Yawale (45) to kidnap the girl.
