President Bola Tinubu has written the Nigerian Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of Ola Olukoyede as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
If confirmed, Olukoyede will serve for a term of four years.
The request is contained in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
President Tinubu also asked the Senate to confirm Mohammed Hassan as secretary of the anti-graft agency.
President Tinubu says the nomination complies with Sections 2 and 3 of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004.
Politics Nigeria reports that Olukoyede’s nomination as EFCC chairman has continued to generate mixed reactions with some people questioning his experience and qualification for the job.
