Popular Nigerian journalist and Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni has expressed concern over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government regarding the release of 24 schoolgirls abducted by bandits in Maga, Kebbi State, last week.
In a viral video on Wednesday, Oseni criticised the government for negotiating with terrorists to secure the schoolgirls’ release instead of taking direct, forceful action.
He highlighted what he sees as an inconsistency in the government’s approach, noting that while Tinubu’s administration handed the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, a life sentence for inciting violence, it is now negotiating with kidnappers.
Oseni said, “I am happy about the fact that the kidnapped people were released. Halluaah. But what do they mean that they spoke with the kidnappers or bandits, and they released the people? Is it that you people did not arrest them?
“And you left them to go like that so that they will kidnap another person just as they have done? I shoulder a disbelief at what is happening in Nigeria.
“You negotiated with the criminals, bandits, and terrorists as what? Business partners? Should the government be negotiating in a case where it has superpowers?
“The same government has jailed Nnamdi to life imprisonment for inciting violence. Still, the same people who kidnap and take people against their will, the government has the temerity to say we negotiate with them,” he said.

You will soon end up injuring yourself if you don’t free your heart from bitterness. What’s the correlation between Kanu’s imprisonment and rescue of abducted children. Kanu is not the first terrorist to be convicted. Kabiru Sokoto the mastermind of Yanya bombing was condemned to death. You downplayed the freedom of the abducted students to escalate the unsubstantiated claim of govt negotiating with bandits. You were all excited when the news of students abduction broke out. They became your talking points on your TV channel to discredit the fed govt. May all of you remain sad forever.

Is this Rufai suggesting that Government should have crushed the terrorists together with the school children,or arrested all of them together,or what sense is he making at all? None.So,if Rufai’s daughter were to be among the captives,then upon safe release, negotiated or anyhow, what will matter most to him,is how the child is rescued? Surely,those paying Rufai on this job he’s doing, should know that there are many better qualified journalists out there.Just wasting funds on this dummy.He can’t ever think right.
I mean,if your daughter were to be among the captives…and Government has now secured their release.Will you now complain on why Government negotiated with the terrorists? Or,tell me the magic power that could be used to get the children released safely and at the same time bomb or arrest the captors? This is how people think upside-down in Nigeria, that till today, most of the girls taken away in Chibok,became wives to terrorists or never returned. Shame.
