The documentation process for the 28 ministerial nominees presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Senate has commenced.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Senator Abdullahi Gumel, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), made the announcement and disclosed that the nominees are expected to visit the Office of the Senior Special Assistant between Friday, July 28, and Sunday, July 30, for necessary documentation ahead of their screening, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 31, 2023.
Senator Gumel stated, “Documentation for ministerial nominees has commenced, and all nominees are expected to complete all necessary processes before the screening. The office will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for this purpose, to enable all nominees to complete the process before the screening.“
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted the list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation on Thursday. The list was read at the plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio after receiving it from the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
In addition to the 28 names already presented, Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed that the President would forward more nominees for consideration.
The 28 ministerial nominees ate Hon. (Engr) Abubakar Momoh (Edo), Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar CON, Architect Ahmad Dangiwa (Katsina), Barr. Hannatu Musawa (Katsina), Chief Uche Nnaji (Enugu), Dr. Betta Edu (Cross River), Dr. Doris Aniche Uzoka (Imo), Senator David Umahi (Ebonyi), ex-Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), ex-Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), ex-Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufai (Kaduna), Hon, Ekperikpe Ekpo (Akwa Ibom), and Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha (Abia), Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (Ondo), Hon. Stella Okotete (Delta), Mr Bello Muhammad Goronyo (Sokoto), Hon. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye (Anambra), Mr. Dele Alake (Ekiti), Barr. Lateef Fagbemi SAN (Kwara), Mr. Muhammad Idris (Niger), Mr. Olawale Edun (Ogun), Mr. Waheed Adebayo Adelabu (Oyo), Mrs Iman Sulaiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa), Prof. Ali Pate (Bauchi), Prof. Joseph Utsev (Benue), Senator Abubakar Kyari (Borno), Senator John Enoh (Cross River), and Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba).
According to Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, the screening of the ministerial nominees by the Senate is set to commence on Monday.
