
Alhaji Ahmad Umar (Mai-Kwatarshi), the Emir of Kwatarkwashi in Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, is dead.
According to a public announcement signed by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Kabiru Balarabe, obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, the emir died at his palace on Thursday after a lengthy illness.
He was buried at about 6:30 pm at Kwatarkwashi, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Late Mai Kwatarkwashi ascended the throne on March 17, 1961. His 61 years on the throne means he was the oldest emir in Zamfara State.
