”Come home for Christmas, Imo is safe” – State govt begs indigenes outside southeast

The Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Rev Jerry Egbule Egemba, has addressed concerns regarding the security situation in the state, assuring residents and visitors of a safe environment as the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.

In a press release personally signed by Rev Egemba, he refuted claims of heightened insecurity, attributing such perceptions to individuals with ulterior motives aimed at undermining the state’s stability.

The commissioner urged Imo indigenes, tourists, business leaders, and holidaymakers to embrace the festive season in Imo State without apprehension.

He emphasized Governor Hope Uzodimma’s concerted efforts to restore peace and security within the state.

Rev Egemba highlighted collaborative efforts between his team and security agencies to ensure the safety of tourists and oversee activities across various parts of the state.

Specifically, he noted Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma’s comprehensive tours across Owerri, Orlu, and Okigwe zones aimed at bolstering confidence and ensuring maximum security.

His words:

“Who says Imo is not safe for tourists and other holidaymakers alike? We use this opportunity to once again call on our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora and other tourists to feel safe and free to come home for Christmas and New Year festivities without any fear.

“His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma through the help of God has restored peace and security of life and property in Imo State.”
