BREAKING: Trouble as EFCC chair, Magu threatens to go on Hunger Strike

The embattled chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu has threatened to embark on a hunger strike as he remains in detention over an ongoing probe into allegations of corruption levelled against him.

On Thursday, Several politicians, highly placed Nigerians and foreigners, who alleged that they were duped by Magu and some operatives of the EFCC, started sending petitions on how Magu and his men coerced and forced them to part with large sums of money.

Magu, still being interrogated by the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel along with seven of his aides, reportedly got into trouble after information got to the Presidency about some of his dealings both in and outside the country.

A source in the Presidency revealed that Magu may not be released from detention until he responds satisfactorily to all allegations against him.

“You are aware that they (detectives) have searched his house. Detectives that carried out the search combed his house. It was after the search that they arrested seven of his aides as part of the probe.

“Justice Salami is simply carrying out stern instructions from the Presidency over the issue of Magu and it was after he discovered that it will be virtually impossible to grant him bail that Magu started threatening to go on hunger strike, with a view to drawing public sympathy.”

“However, it was learned that when the Presidency got information about his plans to go on strike, in insisted that the embattled EFCC acting chairman will not be released until he returns all the money he was accused of misappropriating.”

  1. I want to take this opportunity to thank Mr President who allowed this to happen.I urge Mr President to do the same to all government officials irrespective of their position or party affiliation. For Magu, even if he likes let him die there Nigerians don’t care ,when he was doing it to others knowing full well that he was corrupted he didn’t know that oneday it will be his turn. let him go to hell with his hunger strike nobody is going to listen to him even the president won’t do that.

  2. Nigeria lack a survey that would study corruption, identify it’s drivers and formulate policy that would reduce it occurrence. It’s unfortunate.

  3. Nigerian politicians should no our problems. Magu is Mr President right hand man but in this case, he has no choice but to face the law. Because no body is above the law.

  4. Who cares if Mag u goes on hunger. If some Nigerians steal the amount of money and properties he has stolen, they can stay a whole year without foods.
    Clime of criminals. #NONSENSE

  5. Magu is making a mistake.
If he go on hunger strike it will be very good so that food will go round.
He has been held people and forced them to pay.
Let teast the soup he has cook.

  6. That’s all we expect Mr. President to be doing. When ones are proven to be wrong in anyway, the president and the panels should strictly stand willing to punish anyone so well as to serve as deterrent to many others who might have done the same. I however much, sponsord the brainwave as to continue let him in detention until he further reveals more illegal possessions.
