BREAKING: Two PDP assembly members defect to APC

Two members of the Anambra state house of Assembly have moved to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the lawmakers, Douglas Egbuna who represents Onitsha North 1 Constituency and Offor Onyebuchi of Ekwusigo Constituency announced their defections during plenary on Wednesday.

Offor who was the minority leader in the house, had this to say about his defection.

“It is time I join the party at the centre so that my constituents can feel and experience the presence of the ruling party,” he said.

Egbuna also explained that he defected to the APC after several consultations. The Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor, while congratulating the lawmakers, wished them well in their new party.

The APC now has six members, leaving PDP with four members, while APGA has 20 members in the Assembly.

It can be recalled that four lawmakers elected on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the state Assembly, also defected to the APC on September 21.
