United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson became the first world leader to have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a statement on his verified Twitter handle on Friday, the British leader announced that he developed mild symptoms and tested positive for virus over the last 24 hours.
Johnson added that he has gone into self-isolation since he received his test results, adding he will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as the country fight this virus.
He wrote: “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this”
According to World Health Organisation statistics as of 12:00 pm on Friday, there are 9,533 confirmed coronavirus cases and 463 deaths in the UK.
Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.
